304 or 316 Stainless Steel, Which is Better for the Sink?

Both 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel are resistant to corrosion and they can be used in medical equipment and cooking facilities, for example, boiler. However, 316 stainless steel is actually more resistant to corrosion than the 316 stainless steel because of the addition of Molybdenum in 316 stainless steel. In terms of heat resistance, 304 stainless steel behaves better than 316 stainless steel.

These two kinds of stainless steel have their own pros and cons. In lots of applications, they are interchangeable. Whereas, the price of 316 stainless steel is much more expensive than 304 stainless steel. Therefore, a stainless steel sink made of 316 SS. is more expensive than 304 SS. That’s also one of the reasons why the 304 stainless steel sink is the most common stainless steel sink.
