In the previous update, “ADA Sinks can be Stainless Steel Sinks”, we have mentioned that there are requirements for sinks in height, depth, clearance space, and faucet to become ADA sinks. They also apply to pedestal sink.
Pedestal sinks make it accessible for people in wheelchair to use the sinks, such as washing hand and tooth brushing. However, proper height is needed to turn a pedestal sink into an ADA sink. As we know, pedestal sinks have two parts: leg and basin. If the sink is too low from the floor, there’s not enough clearance space for wheelchair to get close. Whereas, if the sink is too far off the floor, people cannot reach the basin.
