How to Create an L-shaped Kitchen Layout

What is an L-shaped kitchen?
An L-shaped kitchen refers to a kitchen which is designed with an L-shaped layout at the corner of the space. The L-shaped kitchen design is a standard and common design for kitchen space, especially for smaller kitchens that cannot incorporate a kitchen island or G-shape layout.

1. The work triangle is key.
The work triangle is the key for the L-shaped kitchen layout. One example of this is to make use of the stove, refrigerator and sink to form a work triangle in the kitchen layout. In this way, it reduces the walking distance between stations, creating an ergonomically efficient working environment.
 
2. Adding an additional row of cabinets above the countertop.
Compared with other ways of kitchen layout, such as G-shaped and U-shaped, the L-shaped kitchen layout can result in less storage space. One regular solution is to add an additional row of cabinets above the countertop. It expands the storage space to a large extent. This idea is helpful especially for smaller kitchens. But it works on the premise of high ceilings in the room.   
 
3. Make full use of the two parts of the L-shape.
To make full use of the two portions of the L-shape, we can place sink and dishwasher on the shorter part, and oven on the longer part.
