What Kitchen Sinks are Easy to Maintain?

2022-09-22 15:24:18
Installing a sink that is easy to maintain not only saves maintenance costs but also conserves our energy and precious time. Then what materials of kitchen sinks are easy to maintain?

Stainless steel sinks
Stainless steel sinks are usually taken as the easiest-to-maintain kitchen sinks and they are enjoying popularity among consumers thanks to their well-known cost-effectiveness.

For daily cleaning, we just need to wipe away the leftovers with a piece of soft cloth or rinse them away directly after each use. Besides, the owners should avoid putting substances with strong acidity into a stainless steel sink. Also, hard and abrasive cleaning tools, for example, steel ball, should be avoided for stainless steel sinks. Although stainless steel sinks are stainless and rustless in general conditions, those acid substances and hard stuff will damage the surface of the sink.

Fireclay sinks
Fireclay sinks are also easy to maintain. Such sinks are made at very high temperatures. They are durable, chip-resistant, non-porous, and resistant to scratches, acid, and alkali.

For daily maintenance of a fireclay sink, we clean it simply with soft cloth and avoid using abrasive cleaning stuff. If there is gunk on the surface, we can use baking soda to clean it off or scrub it with a plastic spatula.

Ceramic sinks
The ceramic sink is another kind of sink that is easy to take care of. The daily cleaning of a ceramic sink is similar to that of a stainless steel sink and a fireclay sink. One thing we need to pay attention to is that it is more likely to get scratched. Therefore, we should be careful in choosing cleaning tools and cleaners.

Non-porous materials
Apart from stainless steel sink, fireclay sink and ceramic sinks mentioned above, there are other options that meet the easy-to-maintain need. However, porous materials, such as natural stones, are not recommended. Sinks made of such materials tend to seep. To prevent that from happening, we need to seal those sinks even more than once.

Consequently, we should choose non-porous materials for our kitchen sinks if we don’t want to spend much time and money on subsequent maintenance.
