Installation of Farmhouse Sink
Farmhouse sinks may come in a variety of materials, such as stainless steel, ceramic, granite composite, etc. Although farmhouse sinks made of different materials have some slight differences, such as in weight and matters needing attention, they are installed in roughly the same way.
As a stainless steel sink manufacturer in Malaysia, we also produce stainless steel farmhouse sinks. Therefore, I’m going to talk about the installation of the farmhouse sink step by step, taking the stainless steel farmhouse sink as an example.
Step 1 Get tools and materials ready
It’s better not to get the installation started until you make sure that everything is ready.
The most important are the stainless steel farmhouse sink and countertop or cabinet. Besides, we need other tools to help us finish the installation. Possible needed stuff include:
1. A marker
2. Cut-out template or cardboard
3. Jigsaw
4. Scissors
5. Plywood
6. Construction adhesive
7. Woodscrew
8. Drill
9. Tape measure
…
Step 2 Get the cabinet ready
If your cabinet is an old one, then be sure to remove all unnecessary stuff on it. If you’re gonna install the stainless steel farmhouse sink on a new cabinet, you need to pay much attention to the accuracy of your measurement. It includes the size of the hole on the cabinet and the farmhouse sink itself.
Step 3 Place the farmhouse sink
When the cabinet is ready, apply some silicone caulk to the contact surface before putting the farmhouse sink on it. Farmhouse sinks are relatively heavier compared with normal sinks, so you may need someone to help when doing this step. Be careful to wipe away the squeeze-out caulk.
Step 4 Connect sink plumbing
After the sink is perfectly fixed, here comes the most crucial step-installing the plumbing stuff. This is a much more complicated work. If you plan to do it by yourself, you’d better to go according to the given instructive manual. Or else, call a professional plumber for help.
