Los Angeles Port & Long Beach Port will Impose a New Charge
Los Angeles Port & Long Beach Port will impose a new charge on the import and export cargo containers hauled by drayage trucks as they enter or leave container terminals. This new charge will be collected in the name of CTF and it will be a rate of $10 per twenty-foot equivalent unit. Trucks are still the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions from ports and the second largest source of nitrogen oxides, which are a factor in the formation of regional smog. The CTF aims to help the port achieve the environmental goal of eliminating the carbon emissions of all trucks in the port by 2035. Starting from April 1, 2022, the charge will end on December 31, 2034.
