A New Round of Strike at a British Port
Unite the union has announced a new round of strike at the Port of Felixstowe, which is set to happen from September 27, 2022 to October 5, 2022. This is following the strike that happened last month.
The date overlapps with that of the looming Liverpool Port strike that has been set earlier this month. The fundamental reason that causes these strikes is that the salary negotiation between the port operator and workers failed to reach an agreement.
The new strike may be the same as the last strike in August. During the strike, the port of Felixstowe will be closed, and ships cannot be berthed. Some ships jump out of the port, and the time to return to the port of Felixstowe may be delayed for a long time.
